CAREER EXPLORATION AND FINANCIAL LITERACY PROGRAM TO ROOSEVELT HIGH SCHOOL IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MY BOTHERS' KEEPER
On March 27, 2026, Career Day Inc. proudly brought its impactful career exploration and financial literacy program to Roosevelt High School, creating an inspiring and educational experience for students through meaningful conversations with professionals from a variety of industries.
The program was proudly sponsored by My Brother’s Keeper, whose support helped make this meaningful opportunity possible for students. It connected students with accomplished professionals who shared their personal career journeys, professional experiences, and valuable life lessons. Students gained valuable insight into a variety of industries and learned about the many different pathways to success. Through authentic conversations and real-world storytelling, speakers encouraged students to remain confident, adaptable, and open-minded as they explore their future career goals.
In addition to career exploration, the program incorporated discussions around financial literacy and personal growth, helping students better understand the connection between career success, financial responsibility, and economic empowerment.
Career Day Inc. is proud to continue expanding its impact throughout Long Island and beyond by connecting students with professionals dedicated to inspiring, mentoring, and empowering the next generation of leaders. The Roosevelt High School program was another meaningful step toward helping students discover their passions, broaden their horizons, and prepare for future success.
Meet the Panel
Dr. Amy Vigliotti
Amy Vigliotti is a clinical psychologist, speaker, and founder of SelfWorks, where she leads efforts to make mental health care more proactive, accessible, and impactful. She specializes in bridging psychology, education, and workplace wellness, providing therapy services alongside workshops on emotional intelligence, stress management, and resilience. Amy is passionate about helping individuals, families, and organizations apply practical strategies that support well-being, growth, and long-term success.
Nick Singh
Nick Singh is a dedicated community leader and advocate whose lifelong commitment to service has impacted tens of thousands of lives. Beginning his journey at a young age with the Boys & Girls Club, he went on to become a leading Wish Granter with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, bringing hope and joy to countless families. Nick has built meaningful partnerships with athletes, public figures, and organizations to strengthen community initiatives. Originally from Guyana and now based on Long Island, he is passionate about inspiring others, uplifting communities, and creating opportunities that make a lasting difference.
Erika Floreska
Erika Floreska is a transformational nonprofit leader, strategic planner, and partnership builder dedicated to harnessing the power of the arts to strengthen individuals and communities. As President of the Long Island Children’s Museum, she leads initiatives that expand access to creative learning and deepen community engagement. With a distinguished career spanning arts education, nonprofit leadership, and program development, Erika is known for building authentic relationships, driving strategic growth, and creating impactful collaborations that inspire connection, learning, and lasting change.
Rich Tavarez
Rich Tavarez is a leader in community development and financial services with over 25 years of experience building partnerships that connect institutional resources to meaningful community impact. He currently serves as a Community Development Officer at Jovia Financial Credit Union, where he strengthens community engagement through strategic partnerships, volunteerism, and high-impact initiatives. Rich also serves on the Board of Directors for Long Island Reach and actively supports diversity and inclusion efforts across the region.
Shayleen Joseph-Lainez
Shayleen Joseph-Lainez, MBA, is a strategic program and product leader with over 14 years of experience driving innovation in the energy and utility sector. As a Senior Program Manager at Kraken, she specializes in transforming complex systems into streamlined, customer-focused solutions that improve efficiency and enhance user experience. Shayleen excels at guiding cross-functional teams, managing high-impact initiatives, and delivering results that create lasting value for both organizations and the communities they serve.
